McKinney-Vento: Transportation for NYS (outside of NYC)

The intent of McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is to remove barriers to enrollment and attendance in school to ensure academic success. This webinar will address the key provisions of transportation for students experiencing homelessness. (*The information provided is for liaisons working in LEAs located OUTSIDE of New York City. There will be a separate webinar on transportation for New York City.)

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the transportation provisions in the McKinney-Vento Act.

  • Identify the benefits of providing transportation to students experiencing homelessness.

  • Utilize the transportation guide to enhance future decision-making.

  • Address challenges in providing transportation for McKinney-Vento eligible students.

  • Access resources to support decision-making around transportation.
