About the Event
The intent of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is to remove barriers to enrollment and attendance in school to ensure academic success. This webinar is cosponsored by the NYC Department of Education, Office of Students in Temporary Housing & Foster Care. It will address the key provisions of transportation for students in temporary housing in New York City.
By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the transportation provisions in the McKinney-Vento Act and the Chancellor’s Regulations.
- Identify the benefits of providing transportation to students experiencing homelessness.
- Know the role of School-Based STH liaisons is in transportation provision.
- Plan how to address challenges in providing transportation for McKinney-Vento eligible students.
- Access resources that support decision-making around transportation.
