About the Event
Under the McKinney-Vento Act, school districts must remove barriers for students in temporary housing to attend and succeed in school. This can be challenging for children with special needs, both those who have been evaluated and have an IEP (Individualized Education Program) and those who have not yet been identified. The webinar will provide information on the intersection of McKinney-Vento and IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and how LEA’s can support students with disabilities who are living in temporary housing.
By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify key provisions of the McKinney-Vento Act as it pertains to the rights of students with disabilities under IDEA.
- Gain knowledge about the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and special education services for children experiencing temporary housing.
- Access resources for students with disabilities who are experiencing temporary housing.
