About the Event
Charter schools have the responsibility to implement the requirements of the McKinney-Vento Act to ensure that homeless students have access to and can succeed in school. This webinar will provide information on the provisions of the McKinney-Vento law with a focus on enrollment and transportation. (Webinar is intended for Charter Schools in NYC)
By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
Describe the key provisions of the McKinney-Vento Act and the responsibilities of the liaison.
Identify the rights of students experiencing temporary housing and the charter school responsibility to ensure those rights.
Describe the criteria for a student to be eligible for benefits as defined by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
Provide the benefits of immediate enrollment and transportation to eligible students.
