Back to School with McKinney-Vento 2024

As our students return to school this fall, more families may need services under the federal McKinney-Vento Act. This webinar is designed to support McKinney-Vento Liaisons fulfill their role and responsibilities in identifying eligible students and providing benefits under the law. This session will review the provisions of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act as it relates to identification, immediate enrollment and transportation of students experiencing temporary housing.

 

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
 

  • Identify the rights of students experiencing temporary housing and the LEA’s responsibility to ensure those rights.

  • Describe the criteria for a student to be eligible for benefits as defined by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

  • Provide the benefits of immediate enrollment and transportation to eligible students.
