Students who transfer schools often do worse in school than those who don't transfer. The McKinney-Vento Act can help solve this problem by allowing students to stay in the same school and get free transportation.

McKinney-Vento Workshop & Training Details

NYS-TEACHS holds FREE multiple-session regional Workshops throughout New York State every year. Topics at last year's Workshops included transportation, unaccompanied youth, compliance and conversational skills, rural and urban issues, and an introduction to the McKinney-Vento Act.

NYS-TEACHS also offers some on-site trainings throughout the year on the educational rights of students experiencing homelessness. These trainings are geared toward school district personnel and service providers serving students in temporary housing. We also hold web-based events throughout the year.
