Students who transfer schools often do worse in school than those who don't transfer. The McKinney-Vento Act can help solve this problem by allowing students to stay in the same school and get free transportation.

Discussion Listserv

The New York State Technical and Education Assistance Center for Homeless Students (NYS-TEACHS) now hosts a "Discussion listserv" offering professionals working with children and youth who are homeless in New York State the opportunity to discuss, post questions about the McKinney-Vento Act, various approaches to educating students experiencing homelessness and the educational rights of these students.
