College Scholarships for Students in Temporary Housing
Students experiencing homelessness need financial support to attend college. Below is a list of resources that provide such funding to these students.
NEW Application for the Edgar Richards Scholarship Fund [Word doc]
Due May 1, 2008. The Edgar Richards Scholarship Fund provides LGBTQ youth with up to $1000 to pursue a college education. Click the link above to find more information about Edgar Richards, as well as application materials.
LeTendre Education Fund Scholarship Announcement and Application [PDF]
Applications accepted November 1, 2007 - September 12, 2008. Established in 1998, the LeTendre Education Fund for provides financial assistance to students who are homeless or who have experienced homelessness who wish to pursue a college education. "Call Me MISTER" Program for Black Male High School Graduates
The "Call Me MISTER" program is an effort to address the critical shortage of African American male teachers particularly among South Carolina's lowest performing public schools. Program participants are selected from among under-served, socio-economically disadvantaged and educationally at-risk communities. The project provides: tuition for admitted students pursuing approved programs of study at participating colleges; an academic support system to help assure their success; and a cohort system for social and cultural support.
